2011 Funfest Highlights

Funfest for Air-Cooled VW 2011 was a photographer’s dream event!  There were LOTS of smiling faces and over 1,200 unique, eye-catching air-cooled Volkswagens throughout the weekend’s event. The Four Wheels, Two Days and Funfest theme, based on the Woodstock era, added extra fun as attendees brought the 60′s to life through their Volkswagen themes, dress and by proudly displaying the event t-shirt, poster and other materials used for this year’s event.

CLUBS:

Club Parking found a new home along Funfest Boulevard, giving Clubs a central location to show their pride. This year we had over 25 clubs and 150 VWs fill our Club Parking Area. >>More Images

DOWNTOWN PARTY:

Effingham got a special treat as hundreds of VWs decorated the historic downtown area. Thanks to the Effingham Convention & Visitors Bureau for hosting the 3rd annual Downtown Party! Participants enjoyed flowers, dash plaques, themed bumper stickers, great food and music by Jedidiah Adam. >>More Images

DUNE BUGGY EXTREME MAKEOVER:

EXHAUST SOUND OFF:

Exhaust Sound Off is always a crowd pleaser! Participants lined up for the chance to win the 2011 bragging rights as loudest VW exhaust. The crowd served as judge, enjoying their chance to cheer for the loudest of the pack. Kevin T. Goss of Brighton, Ill. was the overall winner with the loudest exhaust, as voted by Funfest enthusiasts.

FAMILY ZONE AND FUN KIDS:

There is something for every age at Funfest. Our Family Zone grows each year with new games and activites. But, it wouldn’t be Funfest without all of the FUN Kids that keep the smiles going! >>More Imagessib

FUN RUN ROAD TOUR:

Again a huge hit, over 200 participants followed Mike and Laurie Yager and cruised through Effingham countryside ending up at the Effingham historic Courthouse square. >>More Images

FUNFEST DOME:

New for 2011, the Funfest Dome was home to product and catalog sales in a single location. Guests enjoyed shade and a pleasant breeze while picking up all the VW parts, accessories and apparel on their lists!

PERFORMANCE CHOICE:

Funfest attendees viewed and purchaseed new and best selling interior products in the PERFORMANCE CHOICE area. A new line of leather seat cover designs was featured during Funfest, allowing attendees to give their feedback related to each different style being offered. PERFORMANCE CHOICE also featured new Coir Floor Mats made from Coconut Husk fiber. These new products drew rave reviews!

SEMINARS:

This years Funfest Attendees were treated to new and improved seminar locations, along with more topics covered! >>More Images

SWAPMEET:

We welcomed 43 swappers from nine states offering a wide variety of the usual and unusual. Early birds took advantage of rare finds and bargains as the action and haggling was well underway by the dawn’s early light. For the right price, swappers could take home everything from Air-Cooled to an aircraft – yes, a runway-ready VW powered airplane! Several “kit cars” with all the necessities were also discovered. On-road or off-road; Type 1, 2 or 3; hubcap to horn ring – don’t miss the Swap action next year.

ULTIMATE PACKAGE REGISTRANTS:

The Ultimate Package, a registration option that has only been offered for 2 years, continues to grow in popularity. This year,  13 Ultimate Package Guests signed up for the “best way to experience Funfest”. >>More Images
